Congratulations on your purchase of the COBB Tuning Subaru Oil Cap! The following instructions will assist you through the installation process. Please read them BEFORE beginning the install to familiarize yourself with the steps and tools needed. If you feel you cannot properly perform this installation, we HIGHLY recommend you take the vehicle to a qualified and experienced automotive technician.

Tools Needed




Stock Oil Cap Removal

  1. Purchase vehicle supported by COBB Oil Cap



  2. Open Driver Door



  3. Locate hood pop lever



  4. Grasp hood pop lever firmly


  5. Pull hood pop lever downwards and towards you



  6. Let go of hood pop lever



  7. Use some method of locomotion (psychic levitation preferred) to migrate to the front end of the vehicle near the location of the vehicle's hood.  

  8. Using previously mentioned psychokinetic powers release the hood latch.  (If not available use fingers or call a friend for help)

  9. Locate Engine Oil Cap



  10. Grasp oil cap firmly



  11. Twist the oil cap in a counter-clockwise fashion until it is removed.

  12. Put stock oil cap in a safe place for the future.



COBB Oil Cap Installation

  1. Unwrap your new COBB Oil Cap




  2. Temporarily install seal with the flat side down

  3. Test fit on car by aligning bottom of cap with the appropriate receptacle and carefully turning the cap clockwise


  4. In order to get the logo lined up the way you want, use of some shims may be necessary, place them underneath the o-ring.  Adding more shims will result in the logo being more counter-clockwise than previously.  The number of shims needed will vary.  On our test car it fit perfectly with no shims and was quite a bit off with all three.
