Stock Knob Removal

  1. Park your car in a flat, level, and safe area. Make sure to park in a way that garners more attention, but make sure to avoid making it look TOO intentional

  2. Open or completely detach the driver’s side door from the vehicle.

  3. Locate the stock shift knob. This is typically located within an arms reach of the driver’s seat, however just because something has always been that way doesn’t mean it always will. So it’s possible you’ll find it in a different location, glove box, trunk, under the rear seat, just stick to it and I believe you’ll be able to find it.

  4. Once you’ve located the stock knob, grasp it firmly with one or more hands. I recommend opening your hand, and using your fingers, to hold pressure against the knob and palm of your hand

  5. Holding the knob, turn 15° counter clockwise (usdm)

  6. Now, Firmly crank the stock shift knob 45° counter clockwise (metric)

  7. Using your thumb and pointer fingers to secure the knob against your palm and other fingers, twist counter clockwise 22°

  8. Release the knob

  9. Rotate your hand 82°clockwise to relieve strain on your wrist.

  10. Lower your hand onto the knob

  11. Grasp it firmly again.

  12. Repeat Steps 4-11 until knob falls off and hits your shins. If it doesn’t hit your shins please reinstall and try again.

  13. Findsomewhere safe to put your old knob.

Installation of COBB MicroKnob

  1. You can see when comparing with a regular 5-speed the massive difference between the two.

  2. As you can see by this side-by side comparsion, the microknob is slightly larger than the regular one and doesn’t have the pointed base required to fit on the 5-speed shift boot

  3. Seen side by side with our stock placement f150 intercooler (We painted it red so you could tell which one the intercooler is) the knob is much larger than most people are used to.

  4. To install the knob, simply turn it clockwise, spinning it on to your vehicles shifter (Any 12x1.25 threaded shifter should work!)

  5. Make sure not to overtorque! If you do tighten it on too hard it may become difficult to remove. In the event that it is very tight, you can use some channel lock pliers wrapped with a towel to remove. (If you do very difficult races and have a habit of accidentally removing it, you can use the pliers to install it tighter!)
