Ford Focus RS - Dyno Preparation
Dyno Preparation - How To:
In order to get the most precise dyno results with the Focus RS, it is necessary to disconnect power to the Rear Drive Unit, or RDU. Â This procedure is necessary for all dyno types including AWD Dynos. Â To read more about why this is necessary, follow this link:Â http://www.cobbtuning.com/ford-focus-rs-power-gains-and-development/
Disconnecting power to the RDU can be done very easily by disconnecting one plug underneath the vehicle. Â Follow the step-by-step procedure below to do so:
Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
- The plug that you will be disconnecting is located underneath the car, just above where the driveshaft meets the RDU.
Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
- ENHANCE!
Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
- This plug has a single plastic clip that will need to be depressed in order to pull the plug out.
Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
- Once disconnected, tuck the clip clear of the driveshaft, as the driveshaft will still spin when the RDU is disconnected. Â This portion of wiring harness is pretty short, so leaving it dangling should be safe.
Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
- With this plug disconnected, you'll see the following messages displayed on the instrument panel:
- Now you're ready to hit the dyno!
Â
- Once you're done on the dyno, just plug the connector back in.
