Part List

  • Boost Tap
  • 1/16 NPT Barbed Fitting
  • 1/16 NPT Plug
  • Buna Multipurpose O-ring

Tools Needed

  • 5/16" Wrench
  • 5/32" Hex Key
  • T20 Torx Screwdriver
  • Phillips Head Screwdriver

Installation of COBB Volkswagen MK6 Boost Tap

  1. Locate the MAP sensor in your GTI. This is where the boost tap will install.

  2. Remove the engine cover by pulling up along the sides to pop it out of the stock grommets.

  3. With the engine cover off you can now unclip the MAP sensor harness by pushing in on the tab and then pulling off the sensor.

  4. Use a T20 torx screwdriver to unscrew the screw holding the stock MAP sensor to the intake manifold.

  5. Now, using your fingers, push the two tabs holding the MAP sensor outward to allow you to remove the MAP sensor from the car. KEEP THIS! DO NOT THROW AWAY!

  6. With the MAP sensor removed from the vehicle, take the O-ring provided and place the O-ring groove on the inside of the COBB Boost Tap. Now would be a good time as well to install the 1/16 NPT Barbed Fitting or the plug depending on if you are wanting to get a boost reference or not! Use the 5/16" wrench or the 5/32" hex key to tighten depending on if you are using the barbed fitting or plug respectively.

  7. Place the COBB Boost Tap in the location that the stock MAP sensor was located. Be sure that the O-ring seated properly around the tubular feature extruding from the intake manifold. Make sure that the boost tap is seated down enough to where the two plastic tabs click over the ridges to hold it in place.

  8. Take the stock MAP sensor and plug it into the COBB Boost Tap as shown. Use the provided 8-16 x 1.5" screw and a Phillips head screwdriver to thread into the intake manifold, holding the COBB Boost Tap and the MAP sensor in place.

  9. To finish the install, clip the wiring harness back into the MAP sensor.

  10. Finally, re-install the engine cover back into the original location and enjoy using the COBB Boost Tap to reference the boost your GTI is putting out!

  • NOTE: If you plan on driving with the boost tap installed and you are not currently using it for a boost reference, be sure to plug the boost tap or cap off the fitting so you do not have a boost leak.

Congratulations on your new COBB Boost Tap!
