Introduction
Subaru has recently issued recalls for 2019-20 Subaru Ascent Vehicles. The recall numbered WUU06 is made to resolve an issue with a C1424 DTC and also updates the vehicle's engine control unit (ECU) with their latest calibration.
Explanation from Subaru: "In some vehicles, the current software may cause the sub learning value control to operate improperly during the wake-up mode of the ECM. This could cause repeated erroneous learning of the accelerator position which can result in the disabling of the VDC function. When the VDC function is disabled, EyeSight, Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB), and Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) auto release functions are disabled by the VDC fail signal causing the VDC, EyeSight, RAB and EPB warning lamps to illuminate."
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Which vehicles are part of Subaru's recall?
Only cars within a specific production date range are included in this recall. You can check if your car is part of Subaru's recall by entering your VIN on the following Subaru page:
I've been running an Accessport with one of the above vehicles. Why is Subaru's recall important?
Any factory ECU tuning solution, including the Accessport, uses the factory calibration and logic as a base and improves upon that. Depending on when and how the map was created, its base ECU may be one that is part of Subaru's current recall. We are recommending that all our customers with the above vehicles upgrade to revised maps outside of the recall range.
I've been running a COBB off-the-shelf (OTS) map with one of the above vehicles. What do I need to do?
When convenient we suggest having a Subaru dealership perform their recall process. *Make certain to uninstall the Accessport prior to having the dealer perform the recall. Update your Accessport using our Accessport Manager software, then after the dealer completes the recall, you can reinstall the Accessport.
If you've not yet had the recall performed, but would like the benefits of Subaru's recall updates right away, you can update your Accessport firmware, then flash the appropriate revised calibration to your vehicle. OTS maps with the Subaru recall updates are labelled version v110 or higher.
What Maps Should I Use Afterward?
- We have created updated maps using the new code that should end with the revision number of v110 or later.
- Update your Accessport to the latest firmware version 1.7.2.0-12082 using the Accessport Manager software. Once on the latest version of Accessport firmware, you will have the latest maps loaded to your Accessport to be flashed to your car.
I am running a custom tune from a COBB Protuner with one of the above vehicles. What do I need to do?
Contact your Protuner and they can update your calibration by opening and re-saving it.
