ECU Removal

  1. Park your car in a safe spot. It’ll be here until you get the ECU back (The package will be shipped Next Day UPS both ways, keep in mind this doesn’t count weekends so shipping earlier in the week is usually the best option!

  2. Pop the hood and put the hoodprop in place. There’s a second slot closer to the hinge for “Service Position” that opens things wider.

  3. Using your 10mm, loosen the negative battery terminal the move it somewhere out of the way where it won’t accidentally re-connect with the battery. Either tuck it in somewhere or zip tie it out of the way.

  4. Squeeze the 4 release tabs inwards and lift off the ecu cover.

  5. Doing one side at a time, lift up on the lever and rotate it towards the other side of the ecu to release the connector. As you lift it the wiring may get in the way, if you slide the rubber grommet with the wiring up and out of the ecu box you’ll have a bit more freedom of movement to get the connectors out.

  6. There are two 10mm bolts holding the ECU box into the car (along with the wiring harness clipped to it.) Using a long extension remove the 10mm bolt on the front side of the ECU. Do your best not to drop the bolt into the depths of the engine bay.

  7. Now by the battery there is a 10mm bolt holding the other side of the ecu box in place.

  8. The last two things holding the ecu box in place are two blue clips holding the wiring harness on the front side. Squeeze the clips to release them and allow the ecu to come free from the engine bay.

  9. With the ECU box out, remove the 4 10mm nuts to release the ecu box from the bracket which should slip out the back side.

  10. That should be the last thing holding the ECU in place, so you should be able to slide it right out of the box now.
