Tools Needed
- 10mm Socket
- 13mm Socket
- 3/8" Ratchet
- Flat-Blade Screwdriver
Installation
- On the passenger's side (USDM) of your vehicle, remove the 10mm stud that is the furthest from the front of the hood and towards the outside of the car. Replace it with the provided ball stud mount and tighten it down using a 13mm socket or wrench.
- Towards the back of the car find the existing ball mount near the strut tower.
- Snap the thicker end of the lift support over that ball support. The metal retaining clip should automatically clip around the ball as you push it in. Sometimes a light hit with your hand will get it to pop into place. Make sure the metal retaining clip is sitting flush with the connector to ensure it's on tightly.
- To put it on the hood, you'll need to remove the hood support and hold it with one hand or have a friend do so. Then slowly lower the hood until you can get the angled end in place on the hood, repeat teh same process to get that end in place tightly.
- Go ahead and remove the factory hood prop. To do so you'll need to work it out of the grommet it's through by wiggling the metal out. Make sure you don't hit the car, yourself, or your friends with the prop rod as you try to get it out.
- If you ever need to remove the lift support you can simply slide a flat-blade screwdriver under the metal retaining clip on each ball end. Just remember the hood is fairly heavy and have it supported properly when doing so.
CARB Sticker Installation (On CARB Certified Applications)
Install the supplied CARB sticker on an easily viewable space that won't be susceptible to large amounts of heat. We recommend on the radiator core support, or the underside of the hood.
