I am seeing 5.0V in my datalog

When the module throws a constant 5 volts it's typically caused by a wiring short.  Go over all components of the system to see if there are wires shorting out to each other causing the issue.  It will help to use a multimeter to check the connectors etc. to find out what is causing the issue.
