244310 – Subaru 6-speed Reverse Lockout Pull
Congratulations on your purchase of the COBB Tuning Reverse Lockout Pull! The following instructions will assist you through the installation process. Please read them BEFORE beginning the install to familiarize yourself with the steps and tools needed. If you feel you cannot properly perform this installation, we HIGHLY recommend you take the vehicle to a qualified and experienced automotive technician.
Using your hammer and a punch that is smaller than the diameter of the hole, Gently tap out the stock pin.
Doing this before the interior removes prevents losing the pin into the gap between the carpet and the floor. Keeping it in reverse will typically keep the reverse lockout shifter from pulling down and coming out below the car (which often necessitates getting under the car to re-install) |
Remove the stock reverse lockout grip by gently pulling it up and out.
With the car in reverse the cable should sit where you can see it in the slot of the shifter. By putting the punch or a thin screwdriver through the cable you should be able to safely switch gears as needed for the remainder of the install/disassembly. If there are parts where it's in the way, simply put it back in reverse and pull the screwdriver out. The reason for this precaution is that the reverse lockout cable will otherwise fall down and out of the shifter which will require (at minimum) a trip below the car in order to shove it back up into place. |
Slide the lockout onto the shifter. Move it up and down slowly on the non-threaded portion and spin it a few times gently. This should allow the grease to get onto all parts of the reverse lockout.
While we do supply a replacement pin, it is mostly for the event that you lose the factory one. It may seem larger but that is just because it hasn't yet been compressed, slightly squeezing it closed with pliers will aid installation. |
