Why?

The newer NexGen Flex Fuel is different from what was offered in the past including the physical kit, how it was implemented in the software/on the car, and to a lesser extent how you will tune it.

Flex Fuel Changes

The following tables have been removed and no longer need to be tuned. They’ve been pre-calibrated with the default values for the COBB NexGen FF kit. This means a bunch of the guess work and starting effort for a map is already done for you.

  • Ethanol Sensor Calibration

  • Ethanol Sensor Calibration Deadband Range (Abs. Delta)

  • Ethanol Sensor Calibration Sampling Rate

  • Ethanol Sensor Calibration Smoothing Factor

  • Ethanol Sensor DTC Delay (High)(C0BB2 DTC)

  • Ethanol Sensor DTC Delay (Low)(C0BB1 DTC)

  • Ethanol Sensor DTC Limit (Voltage)(High)(C0BB2 DTC)

  • Ethanol Sensor DTC Limit (Voltage)(Low)(C0BB1 DTC)

Activation Changes

Toggles are going to be slightly different and will need to be changed to correspond to whatever sensors you’re using. The ECU will try to process the NexGen module signal when ANY of these toggles are enabled. This means the module is required in order for other sensors to be read properly even if the ethanol sensor is not actively used.

  • Ethanol Sensor Activation

    • 0 = Deactivated

    • 1 = COBB Nex Gen Flex Fuel Kit with ethanol sensor activated

  • Fuel Pressure Activation

    • 0 = Deactivated

    • 1 = COBB Nex Gen Flex Fuel Kit installed with fuel pressure sensor harness on TGV Right input (between FF harness and Engine harness) Flex fuel does not need to be active, but harness must be present

  • Custom Sensor Input

    • 0=Deactivated

    • 1= Activated with custom sensor installed on TGV Right input (between FF harness and Engine harness) Flex fuel does not need to be active, but harness must be present

Additional Sensor Input Changes (Fuel Pressure)

You can only use one additional sensor input (Fuel Pressure or custom sensor inputs) and it MUST be plugged into the TGV-R input between the NexGen FF harness and the stock engine harness.

Additional sensor input requires the NexGen FF kit to be installed even if the ethanol sensor is not actively used.

Monitors

There are only some minor changes to monitoring.

  • Ethanol Sensor Voltage has been added to help troubleshoot errors that may come up when you are receiving a dtc for the ethanol sensor at a fixed voltage

  • TGV monitors reduced. Because custom sensors are only supported on TGV Right, the monitors have been limited to.

    • Sensor Input Monitor Only TGV Right

    • Sensor Input Voltage TGV Right
