In the datalog presets we offer two preset datalog lists specifically for CAN Gateway Flex Fuel.

  • CANGatewayGeneral will have most of the monitors important as an end user to get an idea as to what is going on with the vehicle under normal driving conditions, or when you’re having an issue.

  • CANGatewayTroubleshoot is typically going to have monitors that we want to see to do internal troubleshooting, so having a log to send to our customer support team can be helpful.

If you’re not sure your car is safe to run or drive with the DTC you’re getting, reach out to our customer support team and chat with them first!

COBB8

Gateway Module Not Detected

 Why am I getting it?

When starting the car up the ECU was unable to communicate with the COBB Gateway module.

 What does it do?

To avoid unwanted issues if (for example) you were on higher ethanol content and you lost communication with the gateway, you will see a few other DTCs for things as well as some failsafes enable.

  • COBBC

    • Gateway Custom Sensor Error

  • COBBE

    • Gateway Ethanol Sensor Error

What caused it and how do I fix it?

This can happen if the Gateway harness is loose, shorted or not plugged in correctly to the vehicle side or the Gateway side. Or if the fuse has blown in the power feed for the Gateway. Double-check your connections and that there is no physical damage to any of the components

COBB9

Lost communications with Gateway module

 Why am I getting it?

If the Gateway was communicating properly at startup but later lost communication with the vehicle this DTC will come up

 What does it do?

To avoid unwanted issues if (for example) you were on higher ethanol content and you lost communication with the gateway, you will see a few other DTCs for things as well as their failsafes will enable.

COBBA

Gateway firmware is the incorrect version.

 Why am I getting it?

This will come up if the firmware on the Gateway module itself is out of date, or if the map version is too old compared to the gateway.

 What does it do?

To avoid unwanted issues if (for example) you were on higher ethanol content and you lost communication with the gateway, you will see a few other DTCs for things as well as their failsafes will enable.

  • COBBC

    • Gateway Custom Sensor Error

  • COBBE

    • Gateway Ethanol Sensor Error

What caused it and how do I fix it?

If there is an important update to the Gateway firmware or COBB software and maps that is not backwards compatible, you will see this message. The best resolution is to update your gateway and go to the most recent OTS maps, if you have a Protuner you may need to reach out to them to have your map resaved with the most recent changes.

COBBB

CAN Gateway General Packet Error

 Why am I getting it?

The gateway is getting invalid information.

Gateway is receiving or sending invalid information. Reach out to customer support for next steps for troubleshooting.

COBBC

Gateway Custom Sensor Error

 Why am I getting it?

If you have a custom sensor enabled and it is throwing an error. Or a general error that impacts all sensors has happened

 What does it do?
  • Gives you an error to let you know your fuel pressure sensor or another custom sensor input are not working as expected.

  • Failsafe (if enabled) for this sensor will be active

What caused it and how do I fix it?

This can be caused by having a fautly sensor/a sensor that is not correct for your calibration, loose connection between the gateway and sensor, or by something in the map being set up incorrectly. Double-check your connections and that your sensor is correct and plugged in, then reach out to COBB or your custom tuner for additional assistance.

Monitors

  • Sensor Input Fuel Pressure Error / Sns Fuel Press Error

    • 1 Analog voltage out of range High (>4.75v)

    • 2 Analog voltage out of range Low (0.1v-0.25v)

    • 7 No signal from Analog Sensor (0-0.1v)

COBBD

Gateway Inconsistent Sensor

 Why am I getting it?

Information for a given sensor is being received inconsistently.

This will be thrown if one of the sensor cables isn’t connected properly or is potentially bad.

COBBE

Gateway Ethanol Sensor Error

 Why am I getting it?

The gateway is seeing an issue with the Ethanol content sensor.

 What does it do?
  • DTC will be present if ethanol sensor is enabled and the engine is running.

  • Failsafe for missing sensor will activate

    • Car will use last known good ethanol concentration value. If it isn’t available it will go to a preset value (set by COBB or your Protuner)

What caused it and how do I fix it?
  • Sensor cable is detected but no sensor signal is present (Check your wiring connections.)

  • Fuel content error (due to contamination either material, water, or fuel type)

  • Sensor data is out of range (from contamination, short, or fuel type)

  • Ethanol content is out of range

Monitors

  • Ethanol Error

    • 1 Fuel Error

    • 2 Sensor Error

    • 3 Fuel or Sensor Error

    • 4 Ethanol out of range

    • 7 Sensor cable detected but no signal present

  • Fuel Temp
There is a fuel temp sensor built into the ethanol content sensor

    • 1 Out of range Error

    • 7 Sensor cable detected but no signal present (same as ethanol content sensor wiring)

  • No labels
