  • 3/8" 10mm socket

  • 3/8" 12mm socket

Stock Charge Pipe Removal

  1. Park your car in a flat level area and allow it to cool down all the way. You’ll be working near the radiator and engine block so making sure it’s not too hot is pretty critical.

  2. Using a flat-blade screwdriver or trim tool, pry outwards gently on the push clips for the snorkel, and remove the clips followed by the snorkel.

  3. Unplug the two connectors on the fan controller, and the third connector going to the other fan. They all have tabs that you’ll push down in order to then be able to wiggle the connectors free.

  4. Using your 10mm socket or wrench, remove the two bolts at the topof the radiator fan on the passenger’s side (USDM). This should all the fan to flop around a little bit.

  5. As the fan is now free, we can go ahead and pull it out. You may need to gently flex the radiator hose out of the way if it is too close to the radiator and is restricting your movement.

  6. Using your 12mm, remove the bolt holding the intake tube to the engine block near the bottom of the passenger’s side cylinder head.

  7. Up top where the connector meets the pipe for the top mount intercooler you’ll see a metal ring. Pull it gently outwards (may involve some wiggling). it should lock into place without the sides of the clip holding the tube in place on the tube underneath.

  8. Repeat the same on the bottom then wiggle and lift the pipe free from the engine bay.

  9. With the charge pipe removed, loosen the hose clamp on the rubber coupler closest to the intercooler, then wiggle the rubber coupler and the plastic insert free and set them aside.

  10. Optional Steps: Remove Intercooler. While not strictly necessary it can make it a little easier to fit everything in to place

  11. Remove the two 12mm bolts from the throttle body to the intercooler using your ratchet.

  12. On the driver's side (USDM) remove the 12mm bolt through the intercooler itself, the two holding the bracket to the intake manifold can be left for now.

  13. Remove all three 12mm bolts on the passenger's side (USDM) and take the bracket out of the engine bay for now.

  14. Tilt the intercooler and remove it from the engine bay.

Charge Pipe Installation

  1. Apply a liberal amount of the Silicone lubricant to the o-ring, then install it into the in the o-ring groove on the end of the pipe with the funky quick connect section.

  2. Slip a hose clamp over the charge pipe’s opposite end, then push on the silicone coupler. If you didn’t remove the intercooler slide it all the way with none of the coupler out past the end of the hose, then put the remaining clamp loosely over the end of the coupler.

  3. Slide the smaller end of the pipe with the quick connect fitting down and over the outlet of the turbo. Then push the coupler out off the pipe and over the coupler of the charge tube from the intercooler. If you removed the intercooler you can reinstall the intercooler at this time, installing it into the coupler as you go.

  4. With the couplers on but the hose clamps loose, install the retaining clip for the charge pipe. If you can’t reach it, install a 3/8 extension into the cutout on the clip and slide it into place. The ball detent can go on either side as there are cutouts in both sides of the connector.

  5. With the tube secure at both ends, wiggle it around to ensure it is seated, and get the stock bolt lined back up on the cylinder head and charge pipe bracket. It can be tightened with a 12mm socket.

  6. With the pipe securely bolted down, you can position and tighten the hose clamps onto the silicone coupler.

  7. Re-install the fan and snorkel and you’re all done! Go out and enjoy!
