Stock Downpipe Removal
- Park your car in a flat level area and allow it to cool down. If your car is older or you live in a rust prone area (near the ocean or states which see snow) you'll want to apply penetrating oil to all the bolts and oxygen sensors prior to attempting the installation (in some cases doing it the night before to allow it time to sit)
- Place the car on a lift or onto jackstands so you are able to access the bottom of the vehicle.
- Disconnect the two oxygen sensors from their electrical connectors.
- Now go ahead and remove both Oxygen sensors using a O2 sensor socket.
- Once the O2 sensors are removed and placed in a safe location, use a 15mm wrench or socket to remove the 2 nuts on the studs of the turbo, securing the downpipe to the turbo.
- With the nuts removed the downpipe will now be resting on the studs however the stock donut gasket between the turbo and downpipe may come off so be prepared to catch it. Put the nuts and the gasket in a safe place as they will be used on reinstallation.
- Moving under the car, loosen the exhaust clamp holding the stock downpipe to the stock catback using a 15mm socket. Once the nuts are loose, strech out the exhaust clamp a little bit so it is easier to remove.
- Using a 13mm socket, remove the bracket attaching the stock downpipe to the transmission.
- With the stock downpipe disconnected from the car, you'll need to remove the exhaust hanger rod from the hanger and slide the downpipe out of the exhaust clamp before pulling the downpipe the rest of the way off of the turbo studs.
Installation of COBB Downpipe
- Check the exhaust gasket to make sure it is in good shape, then reinstall onto the flange and install the front of the downpipe in place on the turbo and put both of the nuts onto the studs but only tighten it down far enough to hold the gasket into place.
- Now install the downpipe support bracket to the transmission then the downpipe leaving it slightly loose for now. Make sure the "C" cutout is oriented as in the picture.
The left photograph covers 2018 AT vehicles as well as 2019+ cars. while the other bracket will cover the older AT vehicles, older MT vehicles do not require this bracket.
   - Now go ahead and install the rear "S" section of the downpipe onto the catback. If you're using the stock catback you'll get the slip fit in place then loosely tighten the exhaust clamp(15mm). If using the COBB Catback you'll want to use the supplied M8 nuts and bolts using a 14mm wrench and socket.
.  - Once everything is in place on the catback end, swing it up to meet the downpipe and bolt that in place as well using the supplied hardware and gasket.
- Making sure the exhaust is still centered appropriately start tightening everything down starting at the rear of the car and working your way forward. Keep in mind that due to manufacturing tolerances with both our parts as well as the vehicle, the flange may not be perfectly centered with it's opposite, as long as it is bolted down it should seal perfectly fine. When tightening the bracket to the transmission tighten moving from the downpipe side to the car.
- With the downpipe all installed hook up your 10-12 amp charger and flash the appropriate map on your car that offers support for the downpipe.
- With the map flashed start the car up for the first time and check for any exhaust leaks that need tightening.
- Go out and enjoy!
