  1. If you have a tow hook installed remove it. Otherwise remove the tow hook cover per the owners manual instructions (typically use something soft like a trim tool to pop the cover out.

  2. Depress the retaining tab on the plastic “string” that holds the cover to the bumper and remove the cover completely so it doesn’t dangle and scratch up your bumper.

  3. Grab the spacers to install the tow hook pin into the tow hook slot. You can typically add more spacers than needed but the recommended minimum spacers are below.
    VA WRX/STI - No Spacer
    VB WRX - Both Spacers (6mm & 12mm)
    FRS/BRZ/GT86/GR86 - Small Spacer (6mm)
    Outback - Both Spacers (6mm & 12mm)

  4. Using the 8mm Allen wrench and the spacers (if required) slipped over the threads, thread the pin into your tow hook hole, torque hand tight.

  5. Decide which position on the license plate frame you want to install to. Each backing plate (with studs) covers 2 corners if you rotate it over. Once you’ve decided, pop that in from the back side (convex side) of the carbon backing plate with the studs sticking through to the front side.

  6. Pop on the sandwich support plate over the three studs on the front side. Then secure with the three m5 washers using an 8mm socket.

  7. Insert the long bolt into the ball end of the pivot ball, then that whole assembly can go through the back (lower) pivot ball mount and thread into the tow hook pin, leave it loose for now.

  8. Pop the front (top) part of the ball socket on to that assembly.

  9. That can now get matched up to the cut out in the back of the license plate frame, and held in place using the 4qty 5mm button head allen bolts. Don’t tighten these all the way up yet, they’re what controls the angle and rotation of the license plate.

  10. Take this whole assembly and insert it into the tow hook pin, bolting it in place using the long allen bolt and tightening it down with the 8mm allen wrench.

  11. Get the angle of the plate how you want it, now is also a good time to make sure you’re happy with which corner the plate is installed to. Make sure it is out of the way of parking sensors etc. Once you’re happy with it tighten the 4 allen bolts down to lock it in place.

  12. Insert your license plate into the cobb frame, make sure it slides under the 4 tabs on each side, and sits all the way down against the front.

  13. The whole assembly should slide down over the top of the carbon plate backing with the 4 tabs on the outside.

  14. Using the 4 provided allen bolts and the long mounting nut plates, install the 4 m6x1.0 Allen bolts into the nut plates to hold the plate to the mount.
