Parts List
Engine Mount
Silicone lube for surface of the bushings.
Tools Needed
Sockets
1/2"
1/2" ratchet
1/2" 17mm socket
Hand Tools
#3 Phillips head screwdriver
Flathead screwdriver
Wrenches
19mm combination wrench (ratcheting is the easiest)
Stock Motor Mount Removal
Park your car in a flat level area and allow it to cool down.
Jack up or lift your car and support it properly on stands.
Pop underneath the car and remove the quick release clips using your large flat-bladed screwdriver to turn them 1/4 turn counter clockwise. FK8 will have 6 total quick release clips, while the FL5/DE5 will have 4
FK8 Under TrayFL5 - DE5 Under TrayUsing your #3 Phillips (smaller ones run the risk of damaging the screws!) remove the 2 screws in the front (and 2 in the rear if installing on FL5/DE5).
Gently pushing the cover towards the front of the car then pulling it down should release it from the car and allow you to expose the stock motor mount.
Using your 19mm wrench (ratcheting is easiest). Undo the bolt end attaching the mount to the transmission until you can move it by hand. Then (if using a ratcheting wrench or the box end) remove the wrench and unscrew the rest by hand or the open end of the wrench until it hits the exhaust. If you go too far with the wrench you can trap it against the exhaust. The bolt won’t come all the way out, just make sure it slips out of the bracket on the transmission.
Using your 17mm ratchet, undo the bolt going vertically into the subframe towards the rear.
Wiggle the mount out. Sometimes gently wiggling the transmission by the bracket can help you get the nose of the mount down far enough to pull it out. Making sure the bolt is all the way out of the threads of the mount (even if it’s just resting there) is critical to being able to accomplish that.
COBB Mount Installation
Examine the mount (isn’t it pretty?) apply a small amount of the provided lube to the faces of the aluminum parts.
slide the bolt for the front part of the mount (smaller end) in part way, making sure it doesn’t stick out beyond the bushing on the driver’s side.
With the cobb logo facing up, insert the larger bushing end into the subframe towards the back.
As the mount slides into place, wiggling back and forth can help.
The bolt may get caught on the edge of the mount as it goes in, you can typically adjust the motors position by levering it with a screwdriver or by pulling with your hands.
It’s in! Tighten to factory torque specs and you’re good to go!
