Stock Component Removal
- Park your car in a flat, level area and allow it to cool down properly.
- Using a 10mm wrench, remove the negative terminal of the battery.
- You don't need to remove the wheels to do this job but it will get you easier access. If you choose to remove them break the rear wheel nuts loose but don't remove them.
- Jack your car up and support it properly, either using a lift, ramps, or jack and jack stands. Remove the rear wheels if you're going to take them off.
- Lay a blanket or cardboard down under the car, or grab a creeper. In this case his name is Andrew
- Undo the 14mm bolt holding the sway bar to the lower control arm using a socket on one side and a wrench on the other.
- It can also help during re-installation if you either fully remove rear sway bar by taking out the two 12mm bolts holding it in, or at the very least loosening it to allow it to drop down slightly.
- For vehicles equipped with auto levelling headlights, use a 10mm wrench to disconnect the ride height sensor from the lower control arm
- Using your 17mm socket and wrench, remove the bolt and nut on the inside of the rear lower control arm.
- Using the same tools Remove the nut from the strut and knuckle, then knock the bolts out in turn to remove the arm from the car.
- Remove the control arm from the car.
Lower Control Arm Installation
- Starting with the factory bolt in the subframe (towards the center of the car) install the new control arm. We recommend putting in the stock bolt for the subframe first, then move on to the shock but leave them loose for now.
- We'll now install the adjustable cam bolts. These allow you to adjust the camber on your car in order for it to be properly aligned. First up put one of the washers onto the bolt with the curved edges facing away from the head of the bolt (towards the control arm) this can then be installed from the rear of the car towards the knuckle through the control arm with the other washer (again curved side towards the arm) followed by the supplied locking nut.
- With the cam bolt installed you'll want to set it to the middle of the range. Rotate it until the bolt is in the middle then hold it with a wrench while you tighten the nut on the other side.
- From here re-tighten the bolts attaching the control arm to the subframe and shock.
- Reinstall the ride height sensor (if equipped) and sway bar.
- Get the vehicle towed to get an alignment. We do not recommend driving a vehicle with an incorrect alignment on the street as it is not safe for you or other people.
